Poem: I will not let it get to me

I Will Not Let it get to Me
by Me

The feeling creeps;
I should feel bad.

I will not let it get to me.

That slithering tongue,
which whispers to me:
"you will always be alone
there is no one for thee."

I will not let it get to me.

For all I've known and all I've done,
for all the pain and all the fun,
Too great a man to be mundane,
this life of glory I have made,
should make me proud and never vain,
to stand on rooftops, free of shame
and shout my truth into the rain:

"I will not let it get to me!"

I will not let it get to me.
